BACKGROUND
Dr. Evan Anderson is Associate Division Chief of Clinical Research for the Pediatric Division, and Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine within Emory School of Medicine. Dr. Anderson trained in both adult and pediatric infectious diseases and has focused his research on viral gastrointestinal and respiratory pathogens as well as clinical vaccinology. He completed his medical degree at the University of Chicago. His residency was completed at University of Chicago Hospital, which he followed with a fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital & Children’s Memorial Hospital.
PROFESSIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
- Principal Investigator, over 50 federal or industry-sponsored epidemiological and vaccine clinical trials, with extensive experience working with the CDC, NIH, and other groups.
- Co-investigator, CDC Etiology of Pneumonia in the Community (EPIC) study
- Multiple PI, Emory Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Unit (VTEU)
- Director, Emory Children’s Center Vaccine Research Clinic (ECC-VRC)
- Georgia Lead Investigator, Emerging Infections Program (EIP) for influenza, RSV, and COVID-19
- Associate Co-Director, Emory T32 Vaccinology Training grant
- Georgia AAP “Covid Healthcare Hero Award,” 2021
